Trauma Therapy in San Diego, CA
You feel so mentally and physically exhausted. Falling asleep is a challenge most nights because your mind is constantly racing. You try to keep it all together every day but it all just feels so heavy and overwhelming right now. You have tried for so long to confidently balance the demands of being a loving parent and spouse while also working, but you’re tired and it feels like everything is falling apart. You struggle to stay calm, relax and be present. You either find yourself spacing out and having bad memories from the trauma or you feel like you’re on high alert and like something bad is about to happen.
Being productive at work is difficult sometimes. The distracting and painful memories you have some days make it really hard to focus. You start to feel sad or angry, which can affect your mood for the rest of the day. Finding the energy to go to work every day is tough enough. You hardly have any energy or motivation left to take care of your responsibilities at home at the end of the day. On the days that you feel really stressed out from work, you come home and have a couple of drinks to cope.
Those closest to you have mentioned that you seem irritable. You lose your temper sometimes and then regret the things you said and did. You feel on edge most days and sometimes the smallest things cause you to have really big reactions. Communicating your needs and feelings to others is a challenge, especially since hardly anyone knows about the trauma that happened to you. You want to prioritize your needs but you don’t know where to start. More than anything, you want to find peace and balance in your life. You want to find the strength, confidence and motivation to live a life that makes you feel proud and fulfilled.
You are ready for a real change
You’ve been told that you should probably go to therapy to talk to someone about the trauma but you don’t even like to think about the painful memories, let alone tell someone else about it. At the same time, you feel like something really needs to change and you’re ready to give it a try.

Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy in San Diego
-
While counseling and therapy are often used interchangeably, counseling typically focuses on present-day challenges and short-term solutions, like managing stress or navigating life transitions. Therapy, on the other hand, tends to be more in-depth and longer-term, exploring deeper emotional patterns or mental health concerns. Both offer meaningful support—it’s all about finding the right fit for your needs.
-
It’s completely natural to wonder if counseling or therapy is right for you. A good rule of thumb is this: if you’re facing a specific challenge—like stress, relationship struggles, or a life transition—counseling can offer short-term support and practical strategies. If you’re dealing with deeper emotional patterns, unresolved trauma, or ongoing mental health concerns, therapy may be a better fit for longer-term healing. That said, you don’t have to figure it out alone—a conversation with a mental health professional can help you decide what type of support will best meet your needs.
-
I currently offer online therapy exclusively, which allows you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own space. Many clients find virtual sessions to be just as effective as in-person therapy, with the added flexibility and convenience of meeting from home or wherever you feel most comfortable.
